Aïcha Abouhaj

A multidisciplinary visual artist from Casablanca. Aicha is passionate about the search for identity and the culture of her Amazigh origins, with a keen interest in painting, in order to express her innovative style, inspired by her heritage and origins.
Through her works, Aicha seeks to highlight her Amazigh cultural heritage and give it a second life by imbuing it with her own life experience. She uses a variety of modern techniques, inspired by the masters Picasso, Matisse, Farid Belkahia and others, with a contemporary fusion to immerse a symbolic story full of meaning. During her career, she has taken part in various exhibitions and art workshops in different Moroccan cities.

Shapes, colors, and materials take us on a journey into the symbolic universe of Berber women of yesteryear through a contemporary aesthetic approach. The artist's questioning of identity gives rise to a totem that invites us to embrace our ancestral traditions but also to free ourselves from their weight and reinvent them. Does building an individual identity involve deconstructing the identity of the group?The work symbolizes a form of deconstruction that invites reconstruction with a view to self-reconciliation.
