Alef/Alif is a choreographic composition, exploring the concept of leading and following, that does not imply a power dynamic between a dominator and the dominated, but rather a system of mutual support and a sense of common responsibility between two equally engaged partners. The piece highlights the fragility and delicacy of relationships, emphasizing the need for a deep understanding of one another’s conditions and challenges to create space for full self-expression. Ultimately, distinctions of “her” or “him” become mere grammatical constructs.
