Anas Belgazzar
Anas Belgazzar, also known as Sol70fat, is a visual artist from Safi and a graduate of Casablanca’s School of Fine Arts. His work encompasses both illustration and animation, two mediums he employs to explore profound emotional narratives and express his passion for storytelling.
Through his art, Anas has developed a distinctive visual style that addresses mental health issues and social challenges prevalent in Moroccan society. He uses his creative work as a means to reflect upon and provoke discussion about these complex topics, offering a unique perspective on contemporary Moroccan life.
My animation depicts a character entering an elevator that initially ascends but then halts. The elevator's speaker presents various scenarios, and the character's reactions determine whether the elevator moves up or down. For instance, if the character cries, the elevator descends, illustrating society's judgment. Conversely, if he expresses anger, the elevator rises, reflecting the greater acceptance of certain emotions. This animation explores men's mental health, using the elevator as a metaphor for the pressures of Moroccan society. The narrative concludes with the appearance of a second elevator containing a woman, highlighting that both genders face societal challenges in this context.
