Imane Laaribi

Imane Laaribi was born in 1999 in M’diq, Morocco, and grew up in a modest coastal town where fishing and other traditional occupations formed the backbone of the community. With this humble upbringing, Imane often found herself pondering, “What could I become?” Her quest to answer this question led her through various educational paths, spanning disciplines from mathematics to physics to economics.

Eventually, Imane discovered her true passion and embraced a path that resonated deeply with her: the arts. This journey of self-discovery and academic exploration ultimately guided her toward her calling, illustrating how one’s background can shape but not limit one’s potential.

"What Do You Bring to the Table?" is a painting installation that explores gender role expectations within the Moroccan context. The artwork depicts a couple seated at a table, negotiating their responsibilities. The woman is surrounded by various elements symbolizing her numerous duties, while the man, is seated in a more comfortable chair, and surrounded by far fewer objects. The table extends beyond the canvas, inviting viewers into the conversation and challenging them to reflect on the unequal division of labor and the pressures faced by women in everyday life.
