Designer

Kamilia Rizk

Designer by training, Kamilia Rizk finds her inspiration in her homeland, Morocco, its history and culture, but also in the ingenious, common-sense solutions developed by the Moroccan people on a daily basis.

With strong ties to the different disciplines she has come into contact with over the course of her career: interior design, painting, marketing, and communications, it is in the creation of objects, notably rugs, inspired by the heritage of her grandparents, that her art finally becomes an interpretation of her vision of the world around her.

"Heritech"

Multi-material weaving 200 x 200 cm

More than just a decorative object, the carpet is a mode of expression, emancipation and communication that has endured through time. The ancestor of our social networks, it was used by women to share the important events in their lives, thanks to a common abstract lexicon combining symbols, geometric shapes, patterns and colors. We realize that while the way we communicate and the means we use have evolved, our needs have remained the same: to exchange, to share, to forge links and build relationships.Heritech is a reflection of Morocco in the year 2050, with its roots in Berber history. The weaving technique represents the traces of a bygone era, and the recycled materials used fabric, jeans, bags and electrical cables prompt us to reflect on the sustainability of our society and question our lifestyles, consumption and communication.Heritech illustrates at the same time the past, the present and the future.
