Mostafa AMZILINE
Mizmiz is the artistic pseudonym of El Mostafa Amziline, a self-taught Moroccan illustrator born in Casablanca. His journey is defined by a passionate decision: after working in auto parts sales, he chose to devote himself entirely to art, his childhood calling. Inspired by global pop culture and Morocco’s rich artistic heritage, Mizmiz has developed a distinctive and instantly recognizable graphic style. He skillfully blends Pop Art elements with unique Moroccan cultural references, bringing to life characters that shape and energize his creations. Working primarily in comics, 2D animation, and mural painting, his work aims to provoke reflection in the audience, using humor and satire to comment on society.
Moul L’Ballon is a political and fantastical comic set in a silent world where faceless creatures discover, through a simple red balloon, the mechanisms of power and domination. When one of them touches the balloon, it gains the right to decide who may “play” and who may not, creating an invisible line that separates the privileged from the excluded. This division breeds tension, revolt, and the balloon’s explosion. When equality seems restored, the cycle begins again, as power always returns. With minimalist drawings and vivid colors, the work contrasts visual simplicity with conceptual depth. Moul L’Ballon reflects on humanity’s fascination with power, the hierarchies it creates, and the invisible borders that endlessly divide.
