Women's modes of expression are at the heart of the questions raised by the work. Originally from the Goulmima region in southern Morocco, the artist is fascinated by the multicolored embroideries on the fabrics that veil women's bodies. Thanks to her artist's eye, which analyzes what she sees, she comes to a different perception. She realizes that the Haik, whose function is to conceal the female body, once adorned with these embroideries, ends up making the wearer even more visible. These symbols embroidered on the black fabric actually represent an act of liberation and self-assertion for women.Beyond shapes and colors, Mouna honors the free spirit, strength, and creativity of the women of her region. She discovers what her forebears have passed on to her in order to forge her own feminine identity in the modern world.
