Visual Storyteller
Souleyeman ECHATOUI
Souleyman Echatoui is a 24-year-old visual storyteller from Salé who explores image and sound through 2D animation to express himself as “a soul who loves to create and watch the sky.” After earning a bachelor’s degree in visual storytelling and comics from the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tetouan, he found his path in animation and created his first short film, The Greatest Symphony, within a year. The film was selected for festivals worldwide, earning recognition and insightful feedback. His work merges visuals and sound to explore human consciousness, using symbolism and poetic imagery to evoke emotion and remind viewers of the beauty and meaning of life.
Invisible borders
Animation
This project is a short animated film that explores the boundaries between ourselves and our true identity in a surreal and musical way. The story begins when the traffic light turns white and everything becomes “real.” People stop fearing the act of being themselves, revealing their true selves, or perhaps descending into madness. The film asks whether it is right to break these boundaries or if there is a cosmic wisdom in keeping these masks on for a greater good. All of this is expressed through rhythmic visuals and pulsating experimental sounds in a one-minute animated piece.
